NIAR Delegation Visits Germany and the UK to Advance Global Collaboration in Smart Robotics

To advance international collaboration in smart robotics, Dr. Chun-Liang Lin, Vice President of the National Institutes of Applied Research (NIAR) and Acting Director of the Preparatory Office of the National Center for AI Robotics (NCAIR), led a delegation to Germany and the United Kingdom from June 21 to 28, 2026. The delegation included representatives from the NCAIR Preparatory Office, the National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC), the National Center for Instrumentation Research (NCIR), and the Science and Technology Policy Research and Information Center (STPI). The visit aimed to strengthen partnerships with leading European robotics institutions, gain insights into emerging technology trends, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

The delegation visited several internationally renowned research organizations, including The Robotics Institute Germany (RIG), Siemens Technology Center (STC), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), The National Robotarium, The Bayes Centre at the University of Edinburgh, and the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics (ECR).

During the visit, the delegation engaged in in-depth exchanges on smart mobility, autonomous systems, robotics technologies, and innovative applications. Discussions also covered research platform development, technology integration, talent development, and academia-industry collaboration. The visit further strengthened NIAR's partnerships with leading European institutions and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration, supporting the advancement of smart robotics technologies and enhancing Taiwan's research and innovation capabilities in the field.
